More than 5,000 haitian children treated for acute malnutrition
Over the past five months, approximately 130,000 children in Haiti have benefited from U.S.-supported nutrition programs, including 5,130 treated for severe acute malnutrition and 6,547 for moderate acute malnutrition. One year after the State Department launched the America First Foreign Assistance initiative, U.S. investments are more flexible, more transparent for American taxpayers, and are producing tangible results, including life-saving nutritional care for children under five in Haiti. Here’s a concrete example : A 20-month-old girl from the Nippes department arrived weighing only 3.5 kg. After six weeks of U.S.-funded treatment, she gained 2 kg and recovered from a life-threatening condition. This is what results-oriented strategic assistance looks like: every dollar is justified by concrete results. The U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince remains committed to expanding nutrition programs and improving child health throughout Haiti. IH/ iciHaiti
