Port-au-Prince : Painting workshops for displaced children and youth
From August 24 to 26, 2026, three days of painting workshops were organized at UNESCO headquarters for children, adolescents, and young people living in displacement sites in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area. This gave them the opportunity to express their emotions, aspirations, and perceptions of the world around them through art. Each child and young person carries within them a unique story, vision, and potential. UNESCO in Haiti is proud to have contributed to the pilot initiative "Humanitarian Through My Eyes" alongside the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA Haiti), the Italian NGO COOPI, and the TOYA Foundation, an NGO working to defend the rights of girls and women. This initiative aims to promote psychosocial well-being, creative expression, inclusion, community participation, and the development of talents. "At UNESCO, we believe in the power of culture and creativity as levers for resilience, hope, and social cohesion, particularly for young people facing vulnerable situations. Giving young people a voice through art also encourages them to imagine and build a better future." IH/ iciHaiti
