Meeting between SEMANAH and the APN
Patrick Norzéus, the Director General of the Maritime and Navigation Service of Haiti (SEMANAH), spoke with his counterpart, engineer Jean Evens Charles, Director General of the National Port Authority (APN). Through this approach, Patrick Norzéus has initiated a dynamic of mobilization around the main challenges of the maritime sector. The objective, according to him, is to contribute to making the Haitian marine environment safer, more secure and more beneficial for all of its users. During the discussions, he presented several perspectives and priorities of SEMANAH, in particular those for which the collaboration of the APN is essential. For example, the upcoming marking project for the main channel of the Port of Port-au-Prince, in order to improve safety and navigation conditions at the entrance to this port. Strengthening economic activity in all of our port areas was also the subject of discussions. During this meeting, the organization of a training and exchange workshop devoted to the Haitian Maritime Code was also discussed. According to Patrick Norzéus, the Maritime Code remains, to this day, largely unknown to the general public. Its popularization therefore constitutes an essential means of allowing economic and social actors in the maritime sector, as well as anyone using maritime routes, to better understand their rights and obligations, emphasizing the importance of raising awareness among the various actors in the sector of Haitian maritime legislation.
