At the request of political parties and groups, through meetings and correspondence addressed to the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), the institution announced on September 2nd, 2026, the extension of the candidate registration period.

Originally scheduled from August 20 to October 2nd, 2026, the candidate registration process has been extended until October 14, 2026. This extension affects each activity within the entire process.

New Scheduleb:

• Online candidate registration : August 20 to September 20, 2026;

• Submission of required documents : September 13 to 22, 2026;

• Review of applications : September 13 to 28, 2026;

• Publication of the preliminary list of registered candidates : September 29, 2026;

• Appeals against candidacies to the Central Electoral Board (BCEC) : September 30 to October 7;

• Candidacy challenges at the BCED : September 30 to October 9, 2026;

• Appeals processing at the BCEN : October 7 to 13, 2026;

• Publication of the final list of approved candidates : October 14, 2026.

This decision reflects the CEP's commitment to facilitating the registration of all candidates for political parties and groups through the dedicated platform.

The CEP also encourages the leaders of the political parties and groups concerned to make full use of this additional time, ensuring that all required formalities are completed within the allotted timeframe.
