DINEPA : Drinking Water Service in Vallières

On Friday, September 4th, 2026, Engineer Théophil Ostinvil, Director General of DINEPA, accompanied by Engineer Pierre Bernardin Poisson, Regional Director of OREPA Nord, and Jodanier Charles, Deputy Delegate for the Vallière district, in the presence of Castel Latortue, Mayor of Vallières, Reverend Father Lumanèce Pierre, Parish Priest of Saint-Vincent, representatives of the public administration of the Northeast Department, and numerous residents from various sections of the municipality, officially inaugurated the Drinking Water Supply System (SAEP) in Vallières, a municipality in the Northeast Department.

These hydraulic infrastructure works, launched on January 21, 2026, are part of the Support Project for Regional Water and Sanitation Offices (OREPA) for the Implementation of Activities in Rural and Peri-Urban Areas, linked to the PAP 3 and Grand-Nord programs. They are being carried out thanks to funding from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) granted to the Haitian government for the benefit of DINEPA, and within the framework of a contract concluded between DINEPA and UNICEF.

This project is fully aligned with the guidelines of DINEPA's General Directorate, namely the maximum development of the Drinking Water and Sanitation (DWS) sector, one of the three priority areas of the institutional strategy.

The commissioning of the Vallières Water Supply System (WSS) reinforces the interventions encouraged by Prime Minister Fils-Aimé for the benefit of the most vulnerable populations. And for DINEPA, with the support of its technical and financial partners, this is an opportunity to progressively expand access to drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene services in rural and peri-urban areas across the country.
