On Thursday, October 1st, 2026, at the Karibe Hotel, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé presided over the official launch ceremony of the first edition of Industry Week, organized around the theme "Towards the revitalization of the Haitian industrial sector". The ceremony brought together key figures including James Monazard, Minister of Commerce and Industry; government officials; technical and financial partners; private sector representatives; entrepreneurs; investors; as well as representatives from academia and business associations. In his remarks, the Minister highlighted the Government's determination to revitalize the industrial sector, which faces numerous challenges. He specifically emphasized the renewal of the HOPE/HELP Act, presenting it as a vital tool for textile industry stakeholders and Haitian workers. "Haitian industry is not a thing of the past; it is alive," he declared, calling for continued efforts toward its revival. For his part, Prime Minister Fils-Aimé commended the Ministry of Commerce and Industry’s initiative to bring together the State, the private sector, entrepreneurs, and partners for a shared discussion on the future of Haitian industry. "Revitalizing our industry means reducing our dependence on imports by leveraging local resources, creating wealth and stable jobs for our youth, and strengthening our economy in an increasingly competitive world," stated Fils-Aimé, reaffirming his Government's commitment to supporting the industrial sector through concrete actions. Under the guidance of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, he announced the implementation of the Strategic Industrial Policy Plan, aimed notably at structuring supply chains, modernizing infrastructure, and improving the sector's operating conditions.
