To discover : René Depestre, a century of sparks
The National Book Directorate (DNL) officially unveiled the collective work entitled "René Depestre, a Century of Sparks" (René Depestre, un siècle d’Étincelles). Inspired by the seminal work of the poet from Jacmel, this creation brings together the poignant contributions of 41 authors. In his address, Verly Dabel, project coordinator, hailed this work as the luminous culmination of a year of celebrations etched in collective memory. Similarly, Ernst Saint-Louis, Director General of the DNL, emphasized that this initiative is fully aligned with the "In Praise of Literature" program, designed to promote books and pay tribute to their creators. On behalf of Emmanuel Ménard, the Minister of Culture, Ms. Stéphanie Saint-Louis, Director General of the Ministry, warmly thanked the 41 authors whose writings keep the poetic flame alive, a truly living memory. For his part, former Minister of Culture Patrick Delatour noted that this year of tribute was not a mere coincidence, but the result of profound reflection on the significance of Depestre's work. The ceremony was punctuated by moving testimonials and readings of excerpts, before concluding with a vibrant artistic performance by Titi Congo. IH/ iciHaïti
