Marc-Élie Nelson, the Minister of Social Affairs and Labour, welcomed approximately one hundred contract workers from the Carrefour Reception Centre [a support, accommodation, and education centre for vulnerable or street children and youth] on October 7, 2026. They had come to collect their back wages after signing their contracts in recent months.

During this meeting, Minister Nelson discussed various aspects of their situation and the operation of the Carrefour Reception Centre with the workers. He announced that the contract workers would receive six months of back wages, with the seventh month's payment already underway.

To further this process, the Minister announced that, at the Prime Minister's initiative, the contracts of all Carrefour Reception Centre's contract workers would be renewed for another twelve months. Furthermore, the Minister announced that a food delivery was being sent to the Carrefour Reception Center's restaurant to ensure regular meals for the Center's beneficiaries.

The Ministry of Social Affairs continues its work to fulfill its mission by providing appropriate responses to the needs of the population, particularly vulnerable individuals.
