Moïse Jean-Charles rejects UN accusations

The "Pitit Dessalin" political party wishes to inform the national and international public that it has officially contacted the United Nations Secretary-General and the Panel of Experts on Haiti, established pursuant to UN Security Council Resolution 2653 (2022), regarding allegations concerning the Party’s leader, former Senator Moïse Jean-Charles, as presented in report S/2026/714 (paragraphs 153–159).

In this correspondence, "Pitit Dessalin" requests precise and verifiable clarifications regarding the factors that led to the Leader being attributed a personal role in controlling the glass eel sector.

"Pitit Dessalin" points out that the trade in glass eels (zangi) is not, in itself, an illegal activity. The Ministry of Agriculture issues certificates to exporters who meet applicable standards and requirements. It is therefore important to distinguish between legally authorized commercial activity and any potential infractions that might occur within this sector. Moïse Jean-Charles maintains that he does not engage in any commercial activity in this field.

The Party specifically requests that the allegations targeting Moïse Jean-Charles be substantiated by precise, verifiable, and sufficiently corroborated evidence.

In the absence of such evidence establishing the alleged personal link to the control of the glass eel sector, the Party requests that his name be removed from the relevant passages.

This initiative reflects a commitment to rigor, transparency, and respect for the principles of credibility and accuracy that must govern any information intended to inform international institutions and the general public.

The Party thus leaves it to the competent United Nations bodies to provide the necessary clarifications. The Party reserves the right to take any appropriate action before competent national and international bodies to defend its honor and the rights of its members.
