iciHaiti - Northeast : Launch of work to provide access to drinking water in Carice

On Saturday, October 10, 2026, in Carice (Northeast Department), engineer Joseph Pierre Louis, Minister of Public Works, participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction and rehabilitation of the Drinking Water Supply Systems (SAEP), alongside Théophil Ostinvil, Director General of DINEPA, officials from the Northern Regional Office for Drinking Water and Sanitation (OREPA-Nord), and local authorities.

This project, entirely financed by the Public Treasury through the Public Investment Program (PIP), aims to modernize and strengthen the water infrastructure of the municipality of Carice and neighboring localities, including Grosse-Roche, Corosse, and Pont-Sable. With a focus on sustainability and energy transition, photovoltaic panels will be installed to ensure the autonomous and continuous operation of the pumps and distribution systems.

During his address, Minister Pierre Louis reiterated the fundamental mission he has set for himself : "to bring the central government closer to local communities in order to directly address the essential needs of the population" He took this opportunity to raise awareness among citizens and local officials about the need to strictly adhere to land-use planning regulations, particularly along roadsides, to protect public rights-of-way.

Emphasizing the long-term sustainability of these strategic investments, the Minister also urged the beneficiaries to take special care of the new infrastructure once the work is completed, in order to guarantee lasting access to drinking water for all the communities concerned.
