At the initiative of Ricardo Jean Baptiste, Director General of the National Ambulance Center (CAN), the Administration and Budget Directorate (DAB) was tasked with organizing a workshop dedicated to developing a "new management model for the CAN" for the 2026-2027 fiscal year.

The workshop brought together—both in person and via videoconference, the institution’s key directorates, units, services, and departmental offices. Participants engaged in a collaborative process to analyze the CAN’s current operations, aiming to improve needs planning, ensure the rational use of resources, clarify responsibilities, enhance operational readiness, and establish regular results monitoring. This approach sought to define strategic directions tailored to the requirements of the upcoming fiscal year.

Discussions focused on assessing the current situation, identifying needs, prioritizing actions, clarifying responsibilities, forecasting resources, and formulating decisions. The process followed the logic of the CAN’s action plan model, defining areas of intervention, objectives, activities, indicators, timelines, and necessary resources.

Participants included the Directorate General, the Emergency Care Directorate (DSU), the Departmental Directorates Coordination Unit (UCDD), the Legal Unit (UJ), the Communication and Public Relations Unit (UCRP), the Logistics and Maintenance Unit, the Evaluation and Programming Unit (UEP), the Administration and Budget Directorate (DAB), the Departmental Directorates, the Human Resources Department, and the Accounting Department. Through this initiative, the CAN General Directorate aims to continue establishing a management approach based on planning, coordination, and the participation of the institution's various components, with a view to improving its operations and the quality of pre-hospital services.
