Caribbean Cup Semifinal : New Date, New Venue for Violette AC
On Tuesday, October 20, 2026, as part of the 2026 Caribbean Cup, the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) informed Violette AC (VAC) that the return leg of their semi-final against the Jamaican club Portmore United FC has been rescheduled for Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. (Haiti time), at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica. It should be noted that in the first leg, Violette AC was defeated by the Jamaican side [3–1]. This postponement follows a ban imposed by Kelvin Cruz, the Dominican Minister of Sports and Recreation, prohibiting the Haitian national football team—as well as any other Haitian team from playing in Dominican stadiums. This decision stems from incidents that occurred on October 1 at the Félix Sánchez Olympic Stadium, following the Grenadiers' 4–1 victory over the Dominican Republic. Given this situation, several measures have been taken to allow Violette AC to continue its preparations and play this crucial match : • Having been temporarily stranded following the postponement of the match, Violette AC has left the Dominican Republic to return to Haiti. Based in Cap-Haïtien, the club is training in Ouanaminthe while awaiting the return leg; • Tuesday, October 20 : Following correspondence from CONCACAF, Pythagore Dumas, the Minister of Youth and Sports, contacted the Violette AC secretariat to inquire about their most urgent needs; • After these concerns were presented to Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, the Haitian State committed to funding air travel for the entire delegation from Cap-Haïtien to Kingston, with a layover in Providenciales (Turks and Caicos Islands).
