Gonaïves : Rehabilitation of Sténio Vincent Park

On Thursday, October 22, 2026, Pythagore Dumas, the Minister of Youth and Sports (MJSAC), leading a technical delegation, arrived in the city of Gonaïves to conduct a final assessment of Parc Sténio Vincent ahead of rehabilitation work, which is set to begin in November 2026. According to our sources, a budget of 105 million gourdes has been allocated for this project in the 2026–2027 fiscal year.

The delegation was welcomed by the city’s mayor, Gina Jeanty. Following an inspection by the MJSAC technical team, Minister Dumas held a productive meeting with representatives of Gonaïves civil society and local authorities, including René Darius, Vice-Delegate for the Gonaïves arrondissement; engineer Dorsainvil Enold, Departmental Director of the Ministry of Public Works; and Deputy Mayor Marc Emmanuel Bertho, as well as prominent figures from the local sports community, such as journalist Johnny Ferdinand.

Regarding the rehabilitation of Parc Sténio Vincent, Minister Dumas provided a firm guarantee that the project would be completed in full, in accordance with the technical study already conducted. A call for tenders will be issued next week, paving the way for the execution phase. At the same time, he emphasized the need for cooperation from every resident, noting that everyone shares the same goal. "You must all act as supervisors to ensure the smooth progress of this project," he concluded.
