Préfète Duffaut left our skies The famous Haitian painter, Préfète Duffaut, born on 1 January 1923 in Cyvadier near Jacmel died yesterday October 6, 2012 to the Hospital St Louis of Port-au-Prince. We owe him, after the painting of Hector Hyppolite and of Castera Bazile, the first masterpieces of Haitian naive art. In 1966 he received the First Prize at the Festival of Negro Arts in Dakar.
