At the last meeting of the National Council for HIV and AIDS (CONAVIHSIDA) in the Dominican Republic, Víctor Terrero, the Director of the Council presented the results of a national study that indicates that the prevalence rate of the immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is 0.8% in the Dominican Republic (2% in the population in Haiti https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-28526-icihaiti-health-fight-against-hiv-aids-the-ministry-not-really-satisfied.html )

However, the Council indicated that the study found that in the Dominican Republic among persons of Haitian nationality, the rate is 4% in the construction sector and 6% among sex workers.

Figures figures that concern the Dominican and Haitian authorities who analyze their strategies for elimination of the virus on the island by 2030 as part of the program of exchange of learning of CONAVIHSIDA and the National Program to fight against AIDS in Haiti.
