iciHaiti - Marigot : Gabionnage of the Citronnier river
At the beginning of the week Abner Septembre, the Minister of the Environment accompanied, among others, by his Chief of Staff Régine Abraham and the Director General of the Ministry Astrel Joseph went to Marigot to make an evaluation of the work already carried out within the framework of a gabionage project for the Citronnier river which represents a danger for the population of Savane Dubois in the event of a flood.

The delegation was welcomed by the mayor of the city, Danau Rene and the former deputy of the commune Déus Deroneth.

The former deputy of the municipality, who agrees with the mayor, invited the Minister to do what is necessary to consolidate the work already done. According to Déroneth, if the river floods again, everything that has been done can be lost. He supported the idea of a comprehensive study so that the work would be more sustainable and on a larger scale.

For his part, Minister Septembre, while recognizing that the threat is real for the population, also believes that it is necessary to carry out a technical study which can guide decisions in order to bring a final and lasting solution to the population.
