Friday, following the protests https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-13876-icihaiti-social-protest-in-petit-goave-this-morning-update-11-17-am.html caused by the rejection by the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) of the candidacy of Germain-fils Alexandre (party VERITE) Germain-fils Alexandre (parti VERITE) to the position of deputy of Petit-Goâve, main rival of the former deputy Stevenson Jacques Thimoleon, a close to the regime, a group of individuals very angry, presented as supporters of Germain-fils Alexandre, vandalized and torched the premises of the Communal Electoral Office (BEC), reducing to ashes the furniture and equipment that were there.
According to reports, the archives of BEC would have also disappeared... in smoke. By late afternoon, apparent calm seemed to have returned, but the tension was still palpable...
