iciHaïti - Agriculture : The Ministry continues its fight against the Mediterranean fruit fly 04/06/2015 09:45:18
Recall that after the introduction of the Mediterranean fruit fly in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic last March, and following the export ban of certain Dominican products in the US and Haiti, the Ministry of Agriculture has developed a prevention plan, consists in installing traps on the border line, ports, airports and their surroundings.
Wednesday, Fresner Dorcin, the Minister of Agriculture, visited the airport, specifically in the Department of Amerijet cargo, to carry out a demonstration of the trapping system of the Mediterranean fly, that was put in place. Remember that this prevention plan, elaborated up to 50 million gourdes, finds the technical support of the USDA/APHIS. Note that since March 2015, some Dominican crops products included in the list of banned products, were again permitted to export to the United States.
