iciHaiti - FLASH : A great man passed away

The former Minister of Economy and Finance of the Transitional Government (2004-2006) Henri Bazin (Born in Saint-Marc), passed away at his home in Turgeau in the evening of Tuesday following a disease.

Lawyer and economist, Henri Bazin left the country in 1957 to complete his training and get a PhD in Europe. Because of the Duvalier regime, he will not return to the country until 1991 after a long and distinguished career as an international civil servant in Africa, Europe and the US, as an adviser to governments and a member of international organizations. In 1992 he became Technical Advisor to the Prime Minister Marc Bazin. From 1993 to 2002 he taught Economic Sciences, History of Economic Thought and International Economic Relations in several Haitian centers of Higher Education.

From June 2006 to June 2009 he taught as Professor of Economics at the University of Notre Dame and then to the present day as Economics Professor at Quisqueya University and to the "Centre de Travaux Pratiques et d'Économie Appliqué" (CTPEA). He as also since 2011, Chairman of the Board of the Chamber of Conciliation and Arbitration of Haiti (CCHA).
