iciHaiti - Agriculture : Farmers Field Schools
Successfully developed worldwide for 25 years by the United Nations Organization for Food (FAO) and other technical partners, the approach of Farmers Field Schools, place the producers at the center of the formation. It aims a participatory learning by observation, experimentation, practice and technical decision-making.

If it has been formally adopted in the documents of agricultural policy, including the National Agricultural Investment Plan (NAIP, 2010-2016), as a relevant method of agricultural extension, this approach is, however, a recent introduction in Haiti. Particularly suited to Haitian agriculture, its development however requires prior adaptation to agro-ecological realities and to the national and local context sociocultural.

FAO is working with the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development, for the extension of the Farmers Field Schools throughout Haiti.
