Saturday, a terrible accident occurred in the locality called "Tè Blanch" 6th Section of Charettes of the commune of Saint-Marc, while an overloaded truck, type "Canter", on board which there were very many people who were returning from a funeral, overturned.

3 men died and 50 people were injured in the accident, 40 of them seriously. The injured were taken to the Saint-Nicolas hospital of Saint-Marc. A dozen brigadiers of theCivil Protection Directorate supported the medical staff for first aid and assistance to victims. Some wounded were led by relatives to other hospitals including that the Mirebalais.

According to the testimonies of survivors, the truck driver would have lost control of the vehiclebecause of brakes who had stopped working, when it approached the hills of the 6th communal section of Saint-Marc.
