Wednesday at Lycée Alexandre Pétion, of students and teachers of yesterday and today, representatives of the diplomatic corps, Jean Beauvois Dorsonne, the Minister of National Education and members of the government among others (in the absence of the President a.i. Privert), took part in the festivities to commemorate the 200 years of the Lycée Alexandre Pétion (1816-2016) at school headquarters in the presence of the highest State authorities.

In his remarks for the occasion, the Minister Dorsonne declared "We celebrate a living monument of our educational heritage. The Ltycée Alexandre Pétion, a national heritage ! [...] Where the students are inspired by the models of men and universal democratic values, to build their future and and be up to the challenges of the third millennium ... [...] Long live to the Lycée Alexandre Pétion,the first high school in the Republic, which celebrates its bicentennial !"

The celebration ended with a historical procession led by Ady Jean Gardy, the President of the Association of Former Students, who emphasized in a play, former students of 1816 to the present : Louis Joseph Janvier, Charlemagne Péralte, Daniel Fignolé and his wife, Pauléus Sannon and his wife, Sténio Vincentand his sister, Fabre Nicolas Geffrard, Dantès Bellegarde, René Depestre, Sylvain Salnave, Jean Price Mars and his wife, Massillon Coicou, Justin Lhérison, Lisius Salomon Jeune, Anténor Firmin, Dumarsais Estimé and his wife, Jonathas Granville, Thomas Madiou, Périclés Tessier and his wife, François Duvalier and his wife.

The animations of the celebration of bicentenary of Lycée Alexandre Pétion have been performed by representatives of several high schools of West.
