Arielle Jeanty Villedrouin, the Director General of the Institute of Social Welfare and Research (IBESR) announced the closure of more than 120 homes of children who do not meet government standards.

Furthermore, on the 776 orphanages recorded on the entire territory of Haiti, only 22% are really permitted to operate said Ms. Villedrouin who recalls that "Beyond all substitutions (foster care, children's homes, domestic or intercountry adoption) the biological family is always the best option to balance and reintegration of children.

Note that due to the socio-economic situation and the lack of responsibility of parents, the number of poor and abandoned children continue to multiply in Haiti.
