iciHaiti - Politic : Seminar on South-South Cooperation
Pierrot Délienne, the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the presence of Magaly Béatrix Camilien Bien-Aimé, Director General of the Ministry of Planning, launched this week a two-day seminar on South-South cooperation in Haiti, an initiative of the Ministry of Planning with the participation of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the Institute Mora of Mexico.

In his speech for the occasion, the Chancellor Délienne, praised the fruitful cooperation developed between Haiti and its Southern partners especially after the earthquake of 12 January 2010 highlighting "This two-day workshop will allow all players to measure, assess and evaluate the contribution of the South-South cooperation in Haiti, to draw lessons for a better future cooperation."

The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) is a regional commission of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). It reports directly to ECOSOC and reports to the General Assembly of the United Nations through it. ECLAC is composed of 41 states in the region that have the status of full members (Canada is a full member its accession in 1948) and of seven associate members.
