iciHaiti - Politic : Ganthier, deprived of State Civil Officer for more than one year

More than 56,000 residents of the border commune of Ganthier, (West of Haiti) are deprived of Civil Status Officer since June 2015. Nobody in the commune can register a birth or obtaining marriage certificate, death , act of birth certificate or any other Civil-state documents necessary to establish the identity of a citizen and this, since June 21, 2015, date of death of the former officer of Civil Status, Chrisnold Felix.

Ganthier residents are outraged face the irresponsibility of the Haitian authorities, which they are slow to make the appointment of a new officer. Jean Viloner Victor, deputy mayor of the commune said to have already made approached with the authorities concerned to provide the commune a new officer.

At the Ministry of Justice, unconvincing explanations are given, explaining that the delay is caused by the slow progress in the vote of the Finance Bill by parliamentarians. In addition, the Ministry not able to confirm a date for the appointment of a new Civil Status officer for the municipality of Ganthier.
