iciHaiti - Social : Cindy Similien of Haitian origin, honored at the Caribbean Life Impact Awards

Haitian-American Cindy Similien was honored at the evening of the Caribbean Life Impact Awards, which honored Caribbean Americans who are influential forces in their communities and recognized for their tireless efforts.

Ms. Similien, a graduate of Barnard College of Columbia University, founded Goal Chic, a mentoring organization whose mission is to educate, engage, and empower young women.

Through workshops and afterschool programs, she helps them be productive in their purpose, finances, health and wellness, and relationships. The first Goal Chic empowerment conference was held in May 2016 in Brooklyn. Recently, this social entrepreneur won the second place prize for Goal Chic from the PowerUp! Kreyol start-up competition.

This year, she was also invited as a changemaker at the inaugural United State of Women Summit convened by the White House and First Lady Michelle Obama.
