iciHaiti - Japan : Donation of more than 150,000 bags of fertilizer

In the framework of Japan-Haiti bilateral cooperation, the Ministry of Agriculture has received from the Government of Japan a first batch of 30,000 bags of fertilizer out of the 155,400 bags expected for the next crop and rice season in the valley of the Artibonite.

These fertilizers of 4 different types are intended to be used in both the plains and the wet mountains.

These fertilizers will be transported to all the departments and the sales will be entrusted to private operators who will have to sell these fertilizers at the price fixed by the authorities. Agreements have been signed with a group of operators in the ten departments of the country and the Ministry has placed inspectors to certify that the fertilizer is sold to the farmers according to the fixed prices: Sulfate 750 gourdes and urea 1,000 gourdes and to ensure that these fertilizers are not used to enrich speculators.
