As part of the International Day of the Rights of the Child, the European Union reiterated its commitment to the cause of the defense of children's rights. Even today, thousands of children are victims of all kinds of physical, psychological and emotional violence, deprived of protection and access to quality education, health and adequate nutrition.

In Haiti, the EU has supported many initiatives in order to promote, protect and enforce the rights of children. Since 2011, nearly 2.6 million Euros have been invested in projects aimed at combating violence against children, reducing child domestic labor and reducing the number of children placed in orphanages.

The recent call for proposals, launched by the European Union last March, worth one million euros, will allow to address the issue of child trafficking especially in border areas and the problem of juvenile detention, which remains a major problem, with many minors imprisoned in conditions that are not conducive to their social and family reintegration.
