iciHaiti - DR : Union of political parties for the control of migration
Concerned by the crisis in Haiti and its migratory impact on the Dominican Republic, several parties and Dominican political organizations (nationalists and conservatives), have joined forces to create the tricolor Movement for national sovereignty (Movimiento Tricolor por la Soberanía Nacional), which seeks to regroup the Dominicans and to defend the rights of the Nation.

The movement includes, among others, the Christian Social Reform Party (PRSC), the Quisqueyan Christian Democratic Party (PQDC), the Institutional Democratic Party (PDI), the National Progressive Force (FNP) and the Polo Soberano movement and other nationalist organizations.

Federico Augusto Antún Batlle, PRSC President, said the movement reflected a national sentiment because the country was threatened adding, "It's not that we do not allow foreigners to come and live with us, but not on the basis of destruction of our Nation," believing that since migration is controlled in all parts of the world, specifying that the Dominican Republic has the right and must also regulate and create conditions of security for its citizens.

Were resent at the launch included: Ismael Reyes (President of the PDI), Pelegrín Castillo (Leader of the FNP) and Elías Wessin Chávez (President of the PQDC).
