iciHaiti - Religion : Mgr. Jean Zaché Duracin retires

After 25 years of ministry, the Anglican Bishop Jean Zaché Duracin (72 years) retired on March 1, 2019. A Mass of thanksgiving was sung in the Holy Trinity Cathedral for the occasion.

In his homily, the Father, Fritz Désiré recalled "under the bishopric of Bishop Jean Zaché Duracin, the Episcopal Church of Haiti has experienced a boom in particular in the field of education [...] More than 200 Classical and higher education schools were built during the 25 years of his episcopate."

Born in the 14th communal section of "Fond de Boudin" in the commune of Léogâne, Mgr. Jean Zaché Duracin joined the seminary in 1973 and was later ordained deacon and priest. After 15 years of service he became a candidate for the episcopate and was elected Bishop in 1993.
