Friday, March 8, as part of the International Women's Rights Day (March 8), "Kri Fanm Ayiti" (KRIFA), an activist association fighting for the Rights of Women in Haiti, stresses with force :

"[...] 42 years after the celebration of the Women's Empowerment Day, the record of progress in this area remains disappointing. Women around the world are marginalized, stigmatized and abused.

The value of women has changed little in mentalities... today hundreds of thousands of girls are exploited and sexually abused. But that does not seem to revolt the collective consciousness. Social injustice, inequality of wages continues to push women into prostitution [...]

Today the United Nations decrees that we must think equitably [...] How to think equitably when a minority lives in luxury and others in filth. How to think equitably when in our homes, men continue to be masters and women objects. Good for nothing...

[...] KRIFA thinks that women's rights will not become effective because we commemorate them every year. If we want to achieve gender equity, in the implementation of public policies, the rights of women must be taken into account [...]"
