iciHaiti - Education : Experts from Cambridge Education on a mission support in Haiti
Following the commitments made at the Washington Workshop last January https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-26700-haiti-washington-consensus-on-the-disbursement-of-165-million-of-support-to-education.html , as part of a consultation to support the finalization of the Ten-Year Education and Training Plan (PDEF) two foreign experts from Cambridge Education, funded by UNICEF, Marion Ginolin and Serge Péano visited Haiti from 1 to 5 April to contribute to the deepening of the sector analysis and the revision of some elements of the Plan.

A first working meeting was held Monday with representatives of the Global Partnership for Education, the European Union and UNICEF as well as the director of cabinet of Minister Cadet, Jackson Pléteau. This meeting focused on the sectoral analysis of the PDEF. The need to deepen this point, considered incomplete in the document, was at the center of the exchanges. The two Cambridge Education experts shared their views on this important point in the document and the working strategy adopted as part of their mission.

A large working meeting was held Wednesday between experts from Cambridge and officials of technical departments of the Ministry as well as some external actors, specialists in education to collect data and comments to review the sectoral analysis of the PDEF. All aspects concerning early childhood, basic, secondary and higher education were reviewed.

Between Wednesday and Friday, Marion Ginolin and Serge Péano met various stakeholders in this file to take stock, among other things, on statistical aspects, good governance and training of masters.

On Friday, the two experts completed the first phase of their consultations on the review of the sector analysis and presented an initial assessment of their discussions at a meeting attended by, among others : Dr Delima Pierre, Director General of the National Office for Partnership in Education (ONAPE), Delima Chery, the Inspector General, members of the cabinet of the Minister of Education Cadet, representatives of UNICEF, the European Union and the Office of Communication of the Ministry.

The two Cambridge Education experts are expected to return soon to Port-au-Prince to complete the second phase of their consultations.

It should be noted that following the roadmap adopted in Washington, the sector analysis review should be completed by June 2019 in order to benefit from EU budget support for the first variable tranche.
