Conscious of the danger of environmental pollution resulting from open defecation and mismanagement of garbage throughout the country, the National Directorate of Drinking Water and Sanitation, decided, for some time, to reinvigorate the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP)

Many measures are being implemented, including:

The construction of a WWTP in St-Marc (Artibonite, Center);

The construction of a WWTP at Fond Frède (South, Nippes, Grand'Anse);

The construction of a WWTP in Limonade (North, Nord'Est);

The revitalization of the Titanyen and Morne-à-Cabri (West) wastewater treatment plants;

The restoration of the fleet of STEUs by Cuban Engineers assisted by mechanics from DINEPA;

The construction of sanitary blocks at the level of schools and public procurement at national level

Note that Wastewater and excreta from sanitary blocks are emptied in the WWTP.
