As part of Holy Week and on the eve of Easter Sunday, the former Consul General of Haiti in Chicago Lesly Condé (August 26, 2004 - May 25, 2018) delivered a message to all compatriots wherever they may be, that we invite you to read.

Message from Lesly Condé :

"Dear compatriots,

We are at a very important time of the year as it is time to honor ancestral values ​​as part of a Christian tradition that has become ours.

Easter Sunday is every year a very special Sunday for us Haitians because it marks the end of a dark period of abstinence. It's like a whole new sun is coming up in all our communities.

Indeed, this time of the year is among the most significant for us Christians. It is a moment of fervent prayer and intense reflection. We can not help but think of God's love for mankind. We know that despite our imperfections, the architect of the universe loved us so much that he accepted to subject his son Jesus Christ to humiliation, bodily suffering and death for our salvation.

It is this great love that we celebrate on Easter Sunday with the resurrection of Jesus. This great day invites us to love our neighbor and especially to forgive him because we, too, need forgiveness.

I thank you for your faithful attention and all my heart, I wish you a happy Easter.
