A fire in the area of La Piña, Jaibón locality (northwest of the Valverde Province in the Dominican Republic) completely destroyed 30 "rooms", properties of Francisca Peña, where lived a hundred Haitians.

According to firefighters, the cause of the fire was caused by a stove that was lit in one of the houses by negligence. During the site inspection after the incident, police found 7 homemade firearms in the rubble.

No casualties were reported, many Haitians had fled, most of them living in the neighboring Republic in an irregular migratory situation.
