Earlier this week, the Ministry of Public Health launched a 5-day workshop on an orientation guide to provide Haiti with all the information needed to carry out a joint external evaluation for the implementation of the capacities required by the International Health Regulations (IHR).

This workshop will allow Haiti to situate itself in relation to the commitments made at the international level to meet the requirements of the IHR.

It should be recalled that the IHR is a legal instrument that obliges the 194 Member States of the World Health Organization (WHO), "Part of the International Health Regulations" to declare diseases meeting epidemiological or eco-epidemiological criteria of importance based on internationally harmonized codes and rules aimed at strengthening national, regional and global

Once revised and completed, the IHR is called by the WHO to become an important element of public health action.
