iciHaiti - Heritage : 3 years to restore a dress of the time of King Henry 1st, to see at MUPANAH
The Museum of the Haitian National Pantheon (MUPANAH) exhibits in its collection to the public, the "Long dress in white cotton muslin", having belonged to Miss Eleanor Richeux de Laroche Asnière, bridesmaid at the court of King Henry 1st (1811-1820).

Anxious to ensure the durability of this museum object, because of the testimonials it brings, the Museum has invested in its restoration that lasted from 2015 to 2018.

This is a finely gathered dress at the waist with mid-length sleeves formed of two gathered balloons. It closes at the back with a row of metal staples, reinforced by a whale. Its particularity is particularly at the lower part of the skirt, which is folded to form a wide hem that goes to the embroidery. This white embroidery, made from the technique of stems, eyelets at the point of cord, "jours ajourés", represents flowering branches that flourish in garland over the entire width of the skirt.

The MUPANAH encourages visitors to come and see this dress, as well as other unpublished objects presented during the period.
