iciHaiti - DR : Intensification of control operations, 1,014 Haitians deported in 5 days

The Directorate General of Migration (DGM) has intensified migration control operations in more than 35 neighborhoods and sectors of 11 Provinces: Azua, Hato Mayor, Mirabal Sisters, Maria Trinidad Sánchez, Montecristi, La Romana, La Vega, Santiago de los Caballeros, Santiago Rodríguez, Santo Domingo (municipalities of the West and North), Valverde and the National District during which the legal situation of 1,275 Haitians was controlled, after verification using biometric readers and consultation with the database of the DGM, 1,014 (79.5%) Haitians were declared in irregular migration situation and repeated at various official border posts to be registered and deported to Haiti.

The DGM has controlled 172 Haitian nationals in the National District, of whom 147 have been deported to Santiago de los Caballeros, 149 controls and 124 deportees; in Santiago Rodríguez, 149 controls and 117 deportees. In La Vega, 116 people controlled, including 94 deportees. In La Romana, 105 Haitians were controlled and 78 deported; 100 and 58 Haitians controlled in the northern and western municipalities of the Santo Domingo Province, 140 of whom were deported; In Hato Mayor, 97 controls and 62 deportees. In the Valverde, Montecristi, Hermanas Mirabal, Maria Trinidad Sánchez and Azua Provinces, 267 Haitian nationals were controlled and 206 were deported.

Migration control teams were composed of inspectors, agents of the Directorate General of Migration (DGM) with the support of the military, the National Police in coordination with the Public Ministry of the Provinces concerned.
