iciHaiti - Social : The new CIN can finally be used in banks

Due to lack of communication between the National Identification Office (ONI) and the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH), the holders of the new National Identification Card (CIN), were unable to using this new document as a means of identification to carry out financial transactions, the banks having not been informed of this new document, only accepted the old CINs.

Informed of this situation, Georges Henry Jr., Vice-Governor of the BRH finally informed and clarified the situation to the Professional Association of Banks. As a result of this development, everything is back to normal and the new CINs are accepted as a means of identification at the bank level.

Letter from the BRH sent to the Professional Association of Banks (ABP) :

"Mr Franck Helmeke

Chairman of the Board of Directors

Professional Association of Banks (ABP), in its offices.

Mister President,

Following the concerns expressed by some of your members about the presentation by clients of a recent identification card different from the one in circulation for years, the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH) addressed the issue to the attention of the National Office of Identification (ONI).

The latter has confirmed that it has been issuing and issuing a new ID card format for some months and has encouraged its use in financial transactions.

As a result, BRH requires you to notify your community members that they can accept either card in circulation as a valid official identification.

Counting on your customary collaboration, the Bank of the Republic of Haiti kindly requests your approval.

Georges Henry Jr., Vice-Governor of the BRH"
