iciHaiti - Security : 98 accidents, 243 victims of the road in September
Garnel Michel Coordinator of the Haitian organization Technical and Operational Services to Stop Accident (STOP-Accidents), informs us that from 23 to 29 September 2019, 18 traffic accidents (-50% compared to the previous week) have made at least 44 victims (-42%): 6 dead (-33%) including 3 pedestrians and 38 wounded (-43%), several seriously.

It should be noted that this significant decrease in road accidents and victims for the analyzed period is more the result of the paralysis of the country and the fuel shortage than the caution of motorists.

Pétion-ville, Mare Rouge, Morne GOC (Nazon), Clercine, Léogane, Kenscoff, Jérémie, Fonds-des-Nègres among others, are the main towns and areas where these accidents were recorded.

Remember that this weekly report was made in partnership with the National Ambulance Center (CAN) and the Haitian Red Cross. However, due to a lack of resources, the STOP-Accident organization is unable to monitor the state of health of the wounded, some of whom die as a result of their injuries and are not counted.

STOP Accidents reiterates its call for caution on our roads, and continues to ask the competent authorities to take measures to reduce the risk of accidents on the public highway.

Balance sheet September 2019 :
98 accidents;
218 wounded;
25 dead.
