iciHaiti - Gonaïves : End of mutiny, detainees transferred to other prisons
Following the mutiny of Thursday at the Gonaives prison https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-29215-haiti-news-zapping.html 328 prisoners of the prison were transferred Friday to other detention centers in the country until the Center is rehabilitated, confirmed the Commissioner of the Government of Gonaïves...

Recall that in the afternoon of Thursday, prison inmates mutinied due to deplorable conditions of detention aggravated by a shortage of food, lack of drinking water and drugs due to road blocks and violent manifestation that make the supply very difficult.

After seizing the service weapon of one of the prison officers, detainees released their companions by forcing cell locks and causing a lot of damage before going out into the yard to try to escape.

Specialized units of the National Police of Haiti including the Intervention and Maintenance Corps (CIMO) and the Departmental Unit of Maintenance of Order (UDMO) called in reinforcement, quickly intervened. The prisoners fired to try to intimidate police officers who used tear gas intensively and quickly regained control of the situation by force. During this intervention at least one prisoner lost his life and several others were injured. No official balance sheet has been reported,
