The Dominican Defense Minister Lieutenant General Rubén Darío Paulino Sem announced that the members of the special intervention unit of Operation "Cerco Fronterizo" composed of 360 trained military trained to deal with all situations requiring protection and the country's defense, now had new transport and surveillance equipment, including video cameras, drones and maritime intervention, given the crisis situation in Haiti.

The Minister added that at the moment "it is not necessary to adopt new measures, although in the future they are not excluded, if necessary."

He recalled that his Ministry had redesigned the strategic road infrastructure, the military installations and a network of modern inter-agency control units had been built and that more than 9,000 soldiers are currently deployed to monitor the border.
