iciHaiti - Education : Successful meeting with the new UNICEF representative
Earlier this week, Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet, the Minister of National Education held a working meeting with Bruno Maes, the new UNICEF representative in Haiti, around common cooperation projects and the issue of the right to education education.

Minister Cadet insisted on the importance of the right to education and the need for all partners and actors in the sector including UNICEF to support this inalienable and fundamental right for the future of children and the country.

Maes praised the commitment of the Minister and his fight for the renewal of education in Haiti and the revival of school activities, despite a difficult health context and abounded in the direction of the Minister by affirming that the right to education was not negotiable and that each actor had to play his role for his full respect.

Non-formal education, preschool, institutional strengthening, the fight against violence at school, the fight against Covid-19, the right to education are among the main themes discussed during this working meeting.

Beatrice Malebranche and Brice Saintil who accompanied the new UNICEF representative also recalled certain aspects concerning the key files being implemented, in particular the remedial courses for candidates for the 2020 State exams (9th AF and bac).

Mr. Maes promised to give his full support to the main projects of the Ministry and to mobilize the actors as President of the Sectorial Group of Education, around the actions of the Ministry and the issue of the right to education.

At the end of the discussions, the two main officials of the two institutions renewed their commitment to an active and beneficial partnership for Haitian children.
