Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet, the Minister of National Education learned with deep dismay the sad news of the passing away of the Inspector General of Education, Louis Délima Chéry from respiratory complications linked to Covid-19.

"This is a great loss for the education community, especially for the Ministry. His memory will remain etched in all the reform initiatives underway for his immense contribution. The Minister Cadet bowed to the disappearance of this emeritus educator and extended his sympathies to his family, his relatives, his staff at the General Inspectorate of Education as well as all his friends.

Emeritus educator, Professor Chéry, who has trained several generations of pupils and students, has held various positions within the Ministry. He was notably a teacher at the Normal School of Martissant and at the Training Center for Basic Education; Inspector then Director General of the National Institute for Vocational Training; Director and member of the cabinet of several Ministers of Education, before occupying the post of Inspector General of Education, upon the creation of this entity.

As a professor, student mentor and dean at Quisqueya University, he made a name for himself for his thoroughness and discipline and was highly regarded for his interpersonal skills. Called the man of inexhaustible ideas, he has worked on many projects relating to the general development of the education system.

His latest contributions to the reform of the education sector relate to automatic promotion to the first cycle of fundamental, the structuring of the non-formal education subsystem and the new proposal of the legal framework of the Ministry of National Education.
