iciHaiti - Tokyo 2020 : Opening ceremony of the Olympic Games
Friday July 23, 2021, the Haitian delegation participated in the traditional opening ceremony of the Olympic Games (without audience, except 1,000 guests) currently taking place in Tokyo, Japan from July 23 to August 8, 2021.

206 delegations took part in the parade of 11,090 athletes who will compete for 339 titles in 33 sports disciplines. 6 Haitian athletes 3 women and 3 men will represent our bicolor. Judokate Sabiana Anestor and boxer Darrelle Valsaint Jr. was the flag bearer of the Haitian delegation.

It was the world #2 in tennis, the Japanese Naomi Osaka, proud of her Haitian origins, who had the honor of lighting the Olympic flame.

Athletes representing Haiti and disciplines :

Judo :
Sabiana Anestor (F) (27 years old, 52 kg) from trou-du-Nord, country of residence Haiti

Taekwondo :
Lauren Anna Lee (F) (17), after decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). First Haitian taekwondoist qualified for this competition.

Swimming :
Emilie Grand-Pierre (F) (20) 100m breaststroke at the Tokyo Aquatic Center. Born in Atlantta, country of residence USA.

Davidson Vincent (M) (19) 100m butterfly. Place of birth Haiti, country of residence USA

Boxing :
Darelle Valsaint Jr. (H) cat. 75 kg (H). Place of residence Orlando (FL, USA)

Athletics (M) :
Mulern Jean (28 years old) 100 meters / hurdles

The Ambassador of Haiti to Japan, Helph Monod HONORAT wishes them success in the events in which they compete and makes the entire team of the Embassy of Haiti available to athletes and members of the Haitian delegation.
