Haiti, a signatory member of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) since 1992, participates in the 26th Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (COP26) which takes place in Glasgow. Scotland, from October 31 to November 12, 2021.

The Ministry of the Environment specifies that "Contrary to the erroneous information circulating on social networks, the official delegation of Haiti is made up of 16 delegates from Haiti from the Ministries of Environment, the Ministry of Public Health, civil society associations and representatives of technical and financial partners.

In Glasgow, the delegation of Haiti is supported by 3 other executives representing the diplomatic mission of Haiti in the United Kingdom.

In accordance with the austerity policy led by Prime Minister ai Ariel Henry and for the sake of transparency, the Ministry of the Environment would like to point out that the official delegation of the Republic of Haiti mainly benefits from the financial and logistical support of its main United Nations partners as well as the Climate Fund for developing countries set up by the UNFCCC.

Note that the Haitian delegation is among the smallest in terms of numbers at COP26. The delegation is made up of a technical team of advisers and negotiators whose mission is to prepare the files, participate in all the conferences and thematic workshops, to allow political decision-makers to have all the elements at their disposal. necessary in order to properly represent the country."

In the context of the crucial upcoming negotiations, Haiti has every interest in being part of the decisions that will be taken, knowing that the country is in the TOP 5 of the most vulnerable to climate change #1 Bangladesh, #2 Guinea-Bissau, #3 Sierra Leone #4 Haiti and #5 Sudan (Source Index of vulnerability to climate change of the British risk analysis firm Maplecroft, published October 30, 2021.) The Dominican Republic is ranked 130th on the index of vulnerability to climate change.
