iciHaiti - Weekly road report : Nearly 30 victims per day

The Haitian organization Technical and Operational Services to Stop Accidents (STOP-Accidents), informs us that for the period from February 28 to March 6, 59 accidents on the national territory (+ 11.3% compared to the previous week https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-36036-icihaiti-weekly-road-report-200-increase-in-people-killed-on-the-roads.html ) made at least 201 victims (+85.4% ): 31 dead (+6.8%) and 170 injured (+57%) including several seriously...

Delmas 40b, Cabaret, Pèlerin 5, Delmas 33, Tabarre, Léogane and RN#9 (West Dept.); Liancourt, Verrettes, Desdunes (Artibonite Dept.); Cayes (South Dept.); Lemonade (North Dept.); Mirebalais, Hinche (Central Dept.) are the main towns and areas where these accidents were recorded.

Let's recall that this assessment was carried out in partnership with the National Ambulance Center (CAN) and the Haitian Red Cross (CRH).

However, due to a lack of sufficient financial resources, STOP-Accident is unable to monitor the state of health of the injured, some of whom die as a result of their injuries and are not counted.

STOP-Accidents reiterates its call for caution on our roads and urges the Government to strengthen prevention measures and set up a systematic vehicle inspection service. In addition, the Organization invites road users to behave responsibly to reduce the risk of accidents.
