On May 12 in the presence of the Rector Fritz Deshommes, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Jean Poincy, the Vice-Rector for Research, Jacques Blaise, the Secretary General of the State University of Haiti (UEH) Wilson Dorlus, representatives of the Ministry of Public Health and members of the administrative staff of the UEH, the members of the new Deanship of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy (FMP) have been invested in their functions for a term of 4 years, by the Executive Council of the UEH.

"In the name of the Executive Council of the State University of Haiti, I declare to invest and as a matter of fact I invest in their functions, Doctor and Professor Bernard Pierre as Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy and Doctor Marc Felix Civil as Vice-Dean of Medicine of the same faculty", declared the Rector Fritz Deshommes adding "On behalf of the Executive Council, I wish you much success and much courage". After having drawn up the biography of the two members of the new Deanship, he stressed that the new council will take over, create new teaching and research laboratories within the institution.

In his speech, the new Dean Bernard Pierre promised to accomplish his mission with professionalism and courage. "[...] We are here to write a new page for the FMP, a new page in the history of the University [...] Today, we, from the Dean, want to make the commitment to work with all the colleagues and all the entities of the University to ensure the development of the latter".

The outgoing Dean, Professor Jean Claude Cadet, took part in the ceremony. In his speech, he wished success to his successor. He also promised all his support to the new leaders of the FMP.
