Wednesday, July 7 Raina Forbin, businesswoman and President of the Tourist Association of Haiti (ATH) deplored on a radio station that the insecurity in Haiti is an unbearable burden for the tourism sector which records the lowest hotel occupancy rate in recent years
Forbin said that the hotels in the emblematic seaside area of Arcadins no longer welcome tourists due to the violence at the northern exit of the capital "The problem was foreseeable. We had already alerted the authorities. But nothing was done. Today, we are paying the price," asking once again the authorities to restore a climate of peace.
She also pointed out that the situation was also alarming for the southern part of the country because of the control exercised by gangs in Martissant over the access to the southern peninsula of Haiti. Under the influence of armed groups, tourism activities in the South no longer exist, and she calls on the private sector and other social groups to agree to get out of the spiral of violence.
