The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Spencer reported earlier this week to the Coast Guard's 7th District the presence of a sailboat overloaded with candestine migrants, with men, women and children on board.

Thursday, September 1st, 2022, the crew of the USCGC Dauntless (WMEC-624), another US Coast Guard vessel repatriated 83 Haitians to Cap-Haitien, following their interception 22 miles east of Cuba.

No injuries were reported. Once taken care of by the Coast Guard, all the migrants received food, water and basic medical care.

“Migrating illegally into the United States in an overcrowded and unseaworthy vessel is extremely dangerous and puts the lives of migrants at risk," said Coast Guard District Seven Lt. Matthew Miller.
